Starting Point
Exploring My Canvas and Cultural Connection

Art has often acted as my guiding light, showcasing the intricacies of our shared human experience. In my creation, Starting Point, I aimed to offer more than just a depiction of this journey; I wanted to open its doors wide, prompting moments of reflection with every step.

The canvas, for me, is not just a material. It's a space where I've woven memories, dreams, and shared insights. When you stand before it, I hope you feel more than just a viewer; I wish for you to be a participant, merging your personal experiences with the collective ones.

In crafting this piece, I sought to mirror life’s many facets. The merging and layering of elements were my way of touching upon the complex pieces of our identity — some immediately evident, others more concealed. While some patterns might hint at past artistic greats, I've endeavored to inject my unique touch, creating a story of connection, identity, and insight.

The concentric circles, shaded in captivating grays, are my invitation for you to reflect. They encourage a deeper introspection, moving inwards. And while they might evoke memories of Jasper Johns, I've tried to push the conversation about self-awareness even further.

Beneath the surface, you'll find my nods to art's rich tapestry. I've weaved in elements from Rauschenberg to Nevelson, hoping to honor the timeless journey of our artistic predecessors.

The red dots, each meticulously placed, narrate a broader tale for me. They're my attempt to bridge the cosmic expanse with individual stories, highlighting the bond between the overarching and the intimate. If they remind you of the likes of Pollock and Pindell, it's my humble homage to their creativity, and an attempt to intertwine personal tales with universal themes.

The threads, vivid and spirited, are closest to my heart. Radiating in hues of orange with hints of green, they are my narrative of the human spirit. Both anchored and free, they symbolize our perpetual quest for equilibrium. Their bold venture beyond the frame is a representation of the boundless nature of identity. And in today's predominantly digital realm, I wanted these tactile threads to invite you to connect and introspect.

Through the panels of Starting Point, I've attempted to weave a narrative. The spaces in between, just as expressive as the painted stretches, hint at the profound meanings that often reside in pauses and silences. They underscore my message—that our identities are both singular and part of a larger story.

Starting Point is my heartfelt attempt to chronicle our collective search for understanding. I hope that, through its layers, you embark on a journey—one that delves deep into art's rich tapestry, explores the nuances of identity, and rekindles a sense of wonder.

In sharing it with you, my aspiration is for you to witness art's timeless capacity to inspire, provoke thought, and touch the soul. Starting Point, for me, is more than just a creation—it's a guide, and I hope it leads you towards introspection and a richer understanding of our interconnected world.
